The problem most of you are describing is related to the software, not to the server's storage capacity, and therefore not related to the cafe or any other thread/topic.  I experience this myself, as do the other users when the system goes down...which is what the problem apparently is.  I don't know more than that, or what Bergie and his staff are doing about it.

Bergie had stated that his intention was to archive or delete outright the cafe style threads at the commencement of each month so that storage problems, if that was to have turned out to be the problem, or part of it, would be minimized.  We have had troubles anyway.

Or, it may be our resident "Mordac, Preventer of Information Services" [from the "Dilbert" comic strip]

I vote for "Mordac".

I've also seen this come up several times over the last few weeks, so you're definitely not alone. I can also say with some certainty that it isn't a problem with your computer.

I couldn't post yesterday as I kept getting that. It has happened before and will probably happen again.  It has been discussed within the past few weeks here, because it has been a recurring thing.

I was having problems with messages coming up slowly last night, but everything eventually came up eventually. This was the only site on which I was encountering such problems. Guess we'll have to blame the cafe again!

Bucyrus

I have seen this problem several times over the last month or so.  Sometimes it lasts several hours or more as it did yesterday and today.

Same here...seems to occur several times during a day (until I get frustrated and go elsewhere), then won't occur again for several days.

I had the same problem, and thought it might be my computer, which did have a problem with printing from another program. I disconnected the printer (it does not have a power switch); that did not help, so I rebooted, and the printer problem was fixed. I forgot about the problem when I returned to the internet last night. It was interesting that some threads came right up, while one or two others continued to be inhibited.

Was about to volunteer to Bergie the use of my 16-Pound circuit breaker so that he could bash the offending piece of hardware or the hardware vendor. Guess I'll go back to planting pointy trees with it or put it in the back of the truck instead.Blindfold

It seems as if it's a backside issue with the index for the database (again...)

It's nothing to do with the speed of your internet connection, or your computer. It's server side only.

It might be fixed.  Response time has suddenly improved dramatically, for me, at least.

Same problem here for about an hour this morning.  The problem is not new.  Sure would be nice if the glitch would get fixed.

Yes, I've been having similar problems trying to open posts....Yesterday, in the afternoon for several hours and right now 11: 17 am, is the first I've been able to make it into the individual posts this morning.

Thanks much ! for the prompt responses, guys.

In the meantime, I also tried accessing the Forum and threads from another computer, but got a "Script not found" or similar error message.

I was finally able to get on through a "back door" - "finding" this thread via the "Community Search", and then clicking on it from there.  At least that way I could read enough of the text of your responses to know that it wasn't just me.  Then again, maybe the SysAdmin fixed the root problem . . .

Thanks again.

Same here.  Ironically, my first attempt to access this thread ended up with the error.

All pages seem to be loading slower than before and I'm running through a T-1 connection.

Forum Access Problems - "Oops - Something Went Wrong . . ."
Posted by Paul_D_North_Jr on Thursday, March 12, 2009 8:02 AM

I've been getting this message a lot when I try to access specific threads since around mid-day yesterday (Weds., 10 March) from a normally reliable computer and connection.  The "index" or "contents" page generally (not always, though) seems to come up fine, although maybe slower than before.  Judging from the volume and timing of the posts, I may not be the only one.  Or, it may be our resident "Mordac, Preventer of Information Services" [from the "Dilbert" comic strip]

So: Is anyone else noticing a problem, or is it only me ?

Thanks in advance for any responses.

- Paul North.
