Welcome to the forum. There are signals at Sand Patch at the top of the grade and at Keystone to the west of Sand Patch. There are talking defect detectors on the line and they are located every 20 miles or so, and they broadcast on CSX's road channel 160.230. Traffic levels on weekends may be light on weekends especially since traffic levels are down.

Sand Patch info
Posted by roknrail on Thursday, March 12, 2009 12:35 AM

Later this spring i'm taking a trip to the Sand Patch area, staying in Fairhope PA

Are there any signals along the line? where are they located?

Are there any talking hotbox detectors in the area? If so what frequency?

What are traffic levels like on a week end?

I'm new to railfanning so any help would be greatly appreciated
