I had a grand old time when I first joined these forums but recently I have not found them worth the reading. I remember Ed with the French. I remember how we all joined together when Missouri and Cabforward needed chastising. I also remember when I asked questions that only real railroad men could answer. I remember when, even we were mad at somebody, the posts were civil. So, I have to go. Good luck to all and keep railroading.

Wow, these words sound Familiar, I believe I uttered them at one point or another, later to learn I was making, or going to make, a really big mistake- I won't say biggest mistake of my life- but it ranks up there.

I don't want to accuse you of anything, but your are overreacting, by far to say the least- look, if you really have to lay low for a while, then come back in a week, I learned the Ed blysard way- Running away from your problems never solved anyhting, because chances are they are more physically fit then you, and will catch up to you when your out of breath.

But if you FEEL the need outweighs everything this forum has to offer, and you still want to leave, I don't believe i can stop you, nor can anyone

I would ask though, that you properly think out the consequences of your actions before you impliment the actions.

According to my history books, I've never seen a Scottish person give up on anyhting, or fight for their say or work really hard to improve people's way of thinking-

Scottydog - I think that you should stick around for just a bit longer. I think that if we all band together we can get this forum back to it's original good happy posistion that it was in when I first came in July of 2003. I always enjoyed your posts and I hope you reconsider your decision.

Scottydog, babe! If there haven't been any good questions only a railroader could answer, why don't you ask some? If the forums are dull and dreary, why don't you raise the level of this forum you own self? Speaking for myself, I don't post just to "run up my score." I don't generally post unless I've got something to say. (I should point out that the two or three highest posters on this forum [they know who they are] also are not, in my view, "running up their scores"; they usually have something worthwhile or funny to say.) Scottydog, babe, Trains.com lets us have this forum to do with what we will, within bounds. It's up to us to make something of it or blow it. Don't go anywhere yet.

I'm so sad to hear that! I'd really like you to reconsider! There have been a few things from time to time that have upset things in the forum, but that happens in life. Like others have said, stay on and don't delete your account. As you can see from the posts already in this thread, you have many friends on here.

I think, no, I know the loss is more ours, though, than his, and I for one, will miss him a great deal.

This sobby soap opera leave taking stuff, personal feuds, second -guessing today's featured wreck with all the condolences for the bereaved in every single accident on the rails, and repetettive "what's your favorite or least favorite railroad?" stuff is just so much gas!!!

Now they're talking hockey on the Rule G thread. It hurts me a little to see my sardonic and painstaking postiings (right, Ricky Gates?) thrown out into the imbecilic mob, but at least I got the Doggy to stop yapping!!!

And there it is.
Sometimes answers appear in a flash, a blinding moment, a golden period of time.
Other times they come from just goofing around with friends, apparently with no end in sight, and are just around the corner!!!

I wish you wouldn't go, but then again, you've never given me the impression that you'd post this if you hadn't already made up your mind. I'm sure that I've contributed my share of the BS that makes you want to leave. For that I apologize. Half the stuff that goes on here has not a thing to do with trains, trains are just what got us all here to argue about everything else. And you're right, there seems to be alot of that going on lately.

You've got my deepest respect for both you and your family, y'all have done more and sacrificed more than any family should have to. Like I said before, as far as my book goes you got a lifetime pass to say whatever they hell you want to whovever the hell you want to.

Permission granted to go ashore......Fair winds and following seas or I guess in your case a shallow sonic layer depth and neglible currents. Take care....

You can do what I have done. Just don't reply to those threads that are rude and not fun to read. That is one reason I don't post as much. When I first joined I would let some of the postings bother me personally. But I have tried to keep to my promise that I would not let my emotions get in the way and not reply to them. Once the bickering and the hatred starts I just stay away from it. It's not worth it.

As I have said in an earlier post, there are great people here that I have met. Some of those being Ed, Kevin, good ole' Joe, Locomutt, Cherokee Woman, and Da' Mook. Although I have not met them personally, Joe, Locomutt, & Cherokee Woman email me almost daily. Some emails with pics and some with some very nice Words of Wisdom. I really look forward to getting home at night to see what they have sent me.

I love the sights and sounds of trains and the smell of creosote, and with the people that I have mentioned I have learned quite a bit about railroading. I knew a little but they have added alot.

And feel free to email anytime.

I'm truly sorry this happened to you, I may have made some offending comments but they were never ment to destroy a person emotionally. I almost always made them when I was truly angry and it was not always at members of this forum. All in all it's just that we're not ready for you to go Sir. We need your virtual guidence to steer us right when we were wrong and to offer us wisdom and courage, not to mention answer our questions that only an "old head" can. I always appriciated that from you and I hate to see that leave with you. If you would stay I think we all would try to streighten up and fly right. I'll agree with you that these forums aren't what then used to be. In a case like this I thinkis it the time for us to harken back to the golden rule and seek you forgiveness for any pain or mistreatment that we have caused. But I can't understand why yo want to go but it is you decision to make, we can't stop you. But if you leave, I think we would all feel as if we have lost a valued member of our mostly tight-knit forum-family here at TRAINS dot com. Thank you all for your time, and good night.
