Nope. The news was Boeing-Wichita is looking to sell the plant, but they haven't sold it yet. According to KAKE-TV Speculation is the same company that took over St. Louis (GKN) would most likey take over here. According to the Wichita Eagle potential buyers could be Airbus SAS, Carlyle Group LLC, GKN RLC, and Goodrich Corp. Also according to the Eagle, Boeing-Wichita builds commerical jetliner parts except the 717. 75% of the 737 fuselage is built here then shipped to Seattle. They also do military work on KC-135s and B-52s and AWACS. The 747s converted to military use were done in Wichita.

Also according to KAKE-TV, IF Boeing-Wichita IS sold the new owners would still remain an important and major supplier to Boeing.

The attitude of the workers there was calm, they seem to be taking it in strides. Senator Brownback and Representative Tiahrt for this region of Kansas are not happy with the news. They had been working hard to make sure Boeing stayed in Wichita since the rumor broke earlier this year that Boeing would either leave Wichita or sell the plant.

You can read all the details at http://www.kansas.com/mld/kansas/8391570.htm available free online for the next 7 days. Other possible sources would be www.kake.com, www.ksn.com, or www.kwch.com (the 3 news stations of Wichita).

Heard on WSJ radio this morning that Boeing's Wichita plant will quit making airplane fuselages. Will this be an end to seeing large airplane bodies going by flatcar? Probably the little houses will continue, but we see the bodies all wrapped and taped going by. No more?
