Pump Reply Anonymous Member sinceApril 2003 305,205 posts Posted by Anonymous on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 7:19 PM Yes it was named City of Fort Worth also I think they named some of Loco's after BN's cheif founders DOGGY Reply Edit UPTRAIN Member sinceJune 2002 From: Independence, MO 1,570 posts Posted by UPTRAIN on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 3:45 PM I don't know but that pic is from 1993/4 and was at the Amtrak station in FW during the inaguration of the new (at the time) BN headquarters there. I think from the new paint, the U.S.A. flags and the passenger cars in tow that this is indeed a picture from that event. I'm not for sure if any will be named but I too have heard that it was in Alliance, Nebraska. Pump Reply traingeek087 Member sinceMarch 2003 From: Nebraska 449 posts City of Fort Worth SD70MAC. Posted by traingeek087 on Wednesday, March 31, 2004 1:21 PM I was reading an article on BNs first shipment of SD70MACs, and they said they were going to name few engines. Such as BN 9400, the first SD70MAC delivered, was suppose to be named "City of Fort Worth", naming it after BNs system headquarters. I've looked at this photo http://www.trainpix.com/BN/EMDORIG/SD70MAC/9400C.HTM and it said it was suppose to be behind the handraills. If you look close there is a silver metal plaque directly behind the handrails. Is this it? was there any other engines named? Anyone have a better photo? and were is this engine assigned now? I heard it was Alliance, Nebraska. Rid'n on the city of New Orleans................ Reply Join our Community! Our community is FREE to join.
