Based on the camera not moving after it went over, and some sounds at the end, I'd guess the camera was set up on a tripod and the operator wasn't really close. 

I found a video of someone who built a working G rotary.  Ran kind of fast, but it did move snow!  He showed some attempts to clear some snow with a wedge plow, but I suspect if you wanted to do that, you'd have to use something a little heavier than your average model.

It's still a fascinating concept - model against real snow.

Did anyone keep going on that thread?  There is a guy in KS who has a garden rr with DRGW plow train and some fascinating model work on several bytes...everything't to scale except the snow, thats real!

At least he kept filming, what a shot.  Bet he doesn't do that again, but you never know.
