Maine, Maritime & Atlantic # 1

Yesterday in the old CV yard (now NECR or Rail) in WRJ VT the freshly painted Maine Maritime & Atlantic box car was sitting.
The car is resplendent in the Red White & Blue motiff with STATE OF MAINE PRODUCTS just as if it were 1950 all over again! The reporting marks were very prominent with MMA 1

I saw pics of that the other day. I retro BAR look ..I like it. MMA is fun to observe, their motive power pool looks like Survivor Up County.......ex BN green C30s, Ex DRGW tunnel motors, some of the old BAR stuff....all in its former owners paint al real hodge podge...From a model perspective, you could buy just about anything and stencil a little MMA on the cab....very cool. I read somewhere that they are getting some of the old WC F45s too...

Actually, it's Montreal, Maine & Atlantic.

MMA 1 is a Pullman Standard box car built in 1979 for the Rock Island (I have its ROCK number somewhere). After that, it was CNW 718000, then NVR (Northern Vermont) 718000 before it got the new paint. Other cars in the CNW/NVR 718000 series are being repainted and relettered to the MMA 1-220 series, but they're painted in the maroon-and-gold that Mr. Burkhardt seems to favor. The logo is reminiscent of the historic Bangor & Aroostook logo.
