PUT OUT BY CSX REGARDING THAT MOST EMBARRASSING EVENT SOME MONTHS AGO WITH THEIR REDICULOUS RUN-AWAY? IN MY 32 YEARS EXPERIENCE ON THE G.N. THEN B.N., B.N.S.F. ETC. I HAVE NEVER HEARD SUCH A BUNCH OF PAP AS WHAT THEY PUT OUT. I KNOW THEIR ARE ALOT OF WORKING AND RETIRED RAIL'S OUT THEIR WHO SHARE THIS FEELING. THANKS...HOMMIE

What Pap, what Buffoonery??? I suppose you are one of those "old heads" who think you are so smart you never make any mistakes and are superhuman. What information released about this incident concerning causes was released by the National Transportation Safety Board, not CSXT, who, by the way, really praised the actions of the train crew that coupled on to the runaway. Do you consider the NTSB an enemy of your union as well??

THANKS FOR THE REPLY GREGG. THE ONLY THAT THIS COULD HAVE PROBABLY HAPPENED IS IF SOME-ONE GOT ON THE ENGINE TO SABOTAGE THE OPERATION. FOR THE RAILROAD TO SAY THAT THE ENGINEER GOT OFF TO LINE A SWITCH, OR B.S. WITH THE CONDUCTOR IS BOGUS. ANYONE WHO KNOWS ANYTHING ABOUT SD-40'S AND THE WAY THE CONTROLS WORK, WOULD KNOW THE ENGINEER IS AS BIG A LIAR AS HE IS INCOMPETANT. GETTING OFF THE ENGINE AND NOT KNOWING THAT THE THROTTLE WAS NOT IN THE UPPER NOTCHES?? THE DYNAMIC BRAKE HANDLE AND THE THROTTLE HANDLE GO IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS. IF THIS PODUNK R.R. HAD A "FRED", AND IT WAS WORKING LIKE IS WAS SUPPOSED TO, THEY COULD HAVE EASILY FOUND THE NUMBER, AND DUMPED THE AIR. THIS WAS JUST ANOTHER IN A LONG LINE OF MAJOR FAU-PAU'S BY THIS "RAIL-ROAD"...HOMMIE

My understanding is this was an in-yard move (assembling the train) so the air hadn't even been hooked up yet. If it had been the police could have dumped the air with a shotgun blast to the line.
