Is this why you see so many different colored AC units on C44-9Ws. It really cool in the UP areas because you could see any one of the three: SP,UP, CNW on any one of the other units. Wouldn't have thought they would go out that often.

I think it might be the cover for the A/C evaporator coil.

they are right parts are parts.I 'm with you. somedays I wonder if csx left any engines to run on home rails. I know mookie wants her BNSfs back asap.

Thanks for the anwsers about the panel. I figured that was what happened. That isn't nearly as noticable with CSX or especially NS!

Mudchicken has you answer about the panel, parts is parts, and if you need one right now, you dont wait to run one through the paint shop.
That part is changed a lot, and we see them mis matched all the time, orange, primer gray, red on the pumpkin paint, what ever they have on hand goes....

Orange panel, if I remember correctly, is actually a main generator transmission oil cooler that is the width of the walkway behind the cab....not stolen, more like "parts is parts" result of a diesel shop repair.

Here in Athens, GA the CSX mainline usually has a single B unit switcher. Yesterday, (Friday) I noticed BNSF 4840(C44-9W) and 790(C44-9W) (first warbonnett I've ever seen!). They are stuffed on a little used siding and are running. Today I noticed that they dropped off UP 8588(SD40-2) and UP 4068(SD70M). Neither of which was running.

Does anybody want to guess why their is 16K hp stored here? Kind of cool to have them around, just weird to have the UP and BNSF's hooked up together.

PS, here is a pic of 790. Is that orange panel standard or did they still one from a pumpkin?
