The circa 1962-63 ATSF GP30U's were totally rebuilt at Cleburne/ SBdno in the period 1982-84, but are still 567 powered. If they do sell off, somebody gets some 75 or so very good locomotives that were well maintained and spent their life in the west (little rust) - as opposed to some of the BN junk coming out of Alliance/Havre/Clyde that was hardly even looked at until premature failure.)....CVR's GP30's (ex DRGW) were not as well maintained or upgraded [pretty much stock] and those rascals are doing well in hard service with limited maintenance.

Mudchicken Nothing is worth taking the risk of losing a life over. Come home tonight in the same condition that you left home this morning in. Safety begins with ME.... cinscocom-west

Not sure of the ex-ATSF GP30/35's, but the BN GP39E program remanufactured old GP30 & GP35 engines with new 'dash 2' style electricals and 645 'power packs' in the 567D3 & 567D3A power plants.  IIRC, the ATSF engines had at least the electical upgrade, but it was done earlier.  I suspect they are at the end of their expected life, and the ex-BN GP39E's are close behind.

BNSF's #2400 series GP30s

According to someone on the trainorders forum, BNSF might retire and sell off their former ATSF GP30s, which would be in the 2400 series.  Don’t know if this is true, but I’d think they are still viable road switchers, along with the GP35s and BN GP39E/M/V rebuilds, which also have turbos.  I got the impression that the poster was referring to the ex-ATSF GP30s.  Many of the BN GP39 rebuilds have GP30 carbodies too.  He also mentioned that BNSF is upgrading some of it's GP35s and GP38s.
