About a year ago, I tried to get into the area, but being pressed for time, I was too rushed to figure it out.  I had been meaning to get back out there, but, after the previous post, I guess I'll just skip it....

There is a nice bridge that goes over the tracks, Baseline Road. Unfortunatly security has recently been stepped up quite recently and a private security company now aggresively patrols the area. If you are anywhere along the road you will be ordered to leave regardless of whether you are on railroad property or not. I've been told that it is now illegal to take photos of the area anywhere south of the spur crossing. Basically stay away from the yard or you are asking for trouble. It is too bad because the bridge provides some excellent photo opportunities.

You can drive the complete circle, but be advised -- I was out there last summer and the unpaved road from the west side around to the northeast can be pretty tough on an automobile.

Good views of train movements from on the bridge at the south end of the property.

You can't go around anymore they have put up gates acrossed the dirt roads out here now .

I work out there , There is a road that goes around the facility that is owned by BNSF that is open to the public . Security out there is pretty tight but generally they leave the Railfans alone unless they are blocking traffic or acting like they are up to no good . The road around can get very busy at times . It is a big place with alot of action .

One probably cannot wander around the facility, but the road affords plenty of views of the area.  The entire area is kinda interesting in a logistical sort of way.

Also, back in the area is a veterans cemetary

BNSF Logistics Park (Chicago)

I don't recall people on these threads talking about the BNSF Logistics Park near Chicago.

Here is a brief explanation of it from company literature:  "Located adjacent to the former Santa Fe main line and within minutes of Interstate 55, the 621-acre facility has room to expand, with BNSF already holding options on more than 200 additional acres. The railroad facility is the focal point of CenterPoint Properties' 2,200-acre intermodal distribution center and warehouse development in Chicago's southwest suburbs."

Sounds great!  Is it a fully-sealed-off site, like UP's Global III in Rochelle, that doesn't permit fanning?  Just wondering.
