I'm already a big Folkston fan and Waycross is 45 minutes closer to home.

What are some vantage points from which to fan and stay out of trouble?  - a.s.

I used to live in Valdosta Ga which is west of Waycross. I got over there a couple of times to railfan. I should have gone more than I did. It was a great place.

monday, tuesday, wed, oct 13,14,15..at waycross jct.  busy place, more than folkston,ga... main lines run in 4 directions. jessup,ga...atlanta,ga.....folkston,ga.....waycross,ga... about half the trains went to and came from folkston,ga...next was line to atlanta in volume, then to jessup least of all.  rice yard at waycross is largest in the southern states..also here is a major general electric major repair shops.up to 50 repaired a week and up to 80 locos serviced daily, fuel, sand, ect.  the large depot in town has chamber of commerce and inside is view of yards up in a plane, very clear.  also at the musuems north of town is a small steam logging locomotive, and a medium steam loco.      waycross also had the largest steam and car shops on the system in 1908. 2000 worked there. other rrs had shops in waycross and lines. also was a rr hospital there.........just a few things i found while here this week.Smile
