Sorry, Between the written word and the computer ,Pioneer became Progress. Indeed 6 of the Algoma F units went to Pioneer Rail as indicated by wcfan4ever.

According to the CANADIAN Trackside Guide, 4 units went to Progress Rail and the other 2 went to two different museums.
I suggest any body with an interest in Canadian railroads get a copy as it has info on every loco , passenger car and all other assorted rail vehicles past and present.

Not a single one was scrapped. They all went to good homes. I will post a list of where they went later today.

Hi AlcoRS11Nut-

About 6 months back, I checked the CN website for excess assets, and the F-units were listed for sale at about $60,000 per unit, and all were stored at the ex-IC Woodcrest Shops. IIRC, some went to museums, but not sure where. It's also possible that some were purchased by loco rebuidlers or scrapyards. HTH[8D]

Does anybody know the status of the Algoma Central's F-units? I just took their snow train and instead of the F-units two SD75I's powered the train. Thanks for your help.
I love the smell of ALCo smoke in the Morning. "Long live the 251!!!" I miss the GBW and my favorite uncle is Uncle Pete. Uncle Pete eats Space Noodles for breakfast.
