As many of you may already know, Union Pacific RR's 844 will be in Denver this weekend, running 2 sold-out excursion trips to Cheyenne & 1 return. For details, see UP's webpage for this titled "100th Anniversary of the First Cheyenne Frontier Days Special Train to be Pulled by Legendary Union Pacific Steam Locomotive" at:

Note that a GPS location unit will be on the train so that it can be tracked on an interactive map !
My daughter - who lives in the Arvada (NW Denver) area - and her boyfriend would like to see it. They're not hard-core railfans (yet !), so I'm wondering if those of you who know the local area have suggestions on good places where they could wait to watch it go by (other than a grade crossing out in the country). I'm thinking of something like a park, coffee shop, microbrewery or brewpub, or winery, etc., with a window, sidewalk, patio, or deck, etc., that overlooks the UP mainline. For them, being able to easily hear (grade crossing whistles ?) or see it coming enough in advance and going by would probably be more important than being up close or other criteria that the rest of us might use to evaluate such locations.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions you can provide !
