C&NW SD18 or 24?
Posted by traingeek087 on Saturday, March 6, 2004 1:00 PM
While serching on the fallenflags railpage (www.rr-fallenflags.org) I was in the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad page. I clicked on what said to be a SD18, but when the photo came up I noticed the air tanks on the top of the locomotive behind the cab but infront of the dynamic brakes. Could this be a mistake, or is this really a SD18?

CNW 6622-6647were SD24s that were de-turboed for CNW, and called SD18s, or SD18Rs ("R" for "rebuilt". They originated as Southern Railway (6622-6642) or UP (6643-6647) SD24s. The ex-Southern units, originally high-nose, were chopped.
