Here is the new and now OFFICIAL website for the Tehachapi Depot rebuild project in California (Socal area).

This offical depot page has the basic info about the very sad fire on June 13, 2008:

Over at http://sptco.proboards107.com they have a story stating that it was caused by the illegal use of fireworks. I think it's in the general discussion part of the forums.

Well, I am a kid in my 30's but I was raised with respect for other peoples property, they probably had no idea they were destroying a historical monument.  It is just wrong.  Do you have a link to that post?

Mike, we had a thread on this a week or so when it happened.  "Kids" (in their 30s!) setting off fireworks was the cause.  They hope to rebuild.

Tehachapi Depot Burnt Down

I went to Tehachapi today to get some stuff from home depot, on my way through town I saw that the Southern Pacific depot that the local club was restoring, burnt down.  Broke my heart.  Has anyone heard weather it was arson or electrical?
