Hey, I saw CSX 5 here a year or so ago. The dispatcher nearly choked on it when he gave out a Form D.

Hello JoeKoh,

The 611 and 765 are great steamers!

But, CSX triple six? Good goobly! That's the anti-Christ's number!

Inspite of all that's going on, this is the country to be in!

Years back, several railroads used: 1776

The locomotives were even painted in special Red, White, and Blue liveries.

Seaboard Coast Line had a "Flagship U36B".Chessie or Reading also had similar patriotic units.

CSX 9 I think it would be fun to call signals from Buffalo to Cleveland. "Engine, Engine number nine, going down the Chicago line"

Conrail 6655 and 6654, the Conrail SD45-2s that were stationed in downtown Pittsburgh as helper units (don't think they are there any longer), I saw these more than anything.

A less-than-honorable mention goes to CSX 8888, the SD40-2 with a "mind of its own".

H1b class Hudson 2816 would have to be my favourite locomotive #.
I rode behind her last June on CPR's coaches getting about an hours worth of video of her.

Mine has got to be NYC 4045 which was an EMD E-8. Rode it from the original Albany Station to Poughkeepsie, when I was a little younger, in the early 50's. What a ride along the Hudson River.

I've got a couple, E&N Railfreight(CP Rail) 3004, because I would always see this unit in Victoria during CP's last few years on Vancouver Island. E&N Railway 3809 is another, because it's the RA/E&N GP38 I've seen the most.

One would be UP 2999, because I've seen it so many times in the past on several UP lines. Its my most frequently viewed engine. For some reason i enjoy seeing it every time. Another would be BNSF 4865 because it was the first locomotive that an engineer invited me into.

Favorite Locomotive Number For A Railroad
Posted by wcfan4ever on Friday, February 27, 2004 4:00 PM
What is your favorite locomotive number on a particular railroad?

Mine would both be for the Wisconsin Central and they are WC 724(2552) because it was my first ever cab-ride and the WC 3025 because that was my second ever cab-ride.
