Ex-NWP Rail Yard in Willits, CA
Posted by MP57313 on Sunday, April 6, 2008 11:36 PM

I visited this yard in July 2007 - a depressing sight.  The NCRA (North Coast Railroad Authority) now owns these tracks, which are the former Northwestern Pacific.  This area is just north of the eastern terminus for the Skunk Train.

The City of Willits has deemed the site a 'visual blight' and has sent notice to the NCRA requiring them to remove the rail cars, according to the NWP RR Historical Society's "Headlight" newsletter.

Typical Willits political nonsense....since the FRA "Death Sentence" of 1998, only M/W equipment is allowed to move in and out of there. (Was there when last train from Ukiah came in and left)...most of the Feather River Historical equipment would be considered a revenue move, so there it sits.

So it Willits keeps this up, I wonder if the cars will have to be scrapped.
