That was the park that I want to go to as soon as winter ends.  I go by the engine house here in Loveland whenever I get a chance but wanted to catch some BNSF stuff.  I don't get to many now that I moved to Colorado from New Mexico and have the family.

Thanks for the heads up on the bike path name. New here and not sure all the land marks yet. I can point to Rckies Stadium from the cab lol.

You can come down to 31st yard and park where the Quiznos is in the Railyard Marketplace and wtch the Salt Mine and South Side switch the yard. There is a bike path underneath and if you want a top view you can go over the bridge.

  Hope that helps you out.

(Upper end of Cuernavaca Park - Platte River Bike path goes under North Leg of main track wye, Brush Sub to Front Range Sub)

Recognizing that a 3 year old may have the attention span of a housefly, how about packing a picnic lunch along with a favorite toy or two and try a couple of spots along the Denver-Colorado Springs "Joint Line."

The old Littleton Depot may have some kind of picnic area close to trackside.  I'm pretty sure that Palmer Lake, located some miles south of Denver, has some facilities where you and your child could be comfortable while watching the endless parade of coal and manifest trains passing.

Try Confluence Park / City of Cuernavaca Park in downtown Denver....if it's going south, it has to go through there.

BNSF in Denver

I want to take my 3-year old train watching in the Denver area and I was hoping someone out there knew of some good places to take a little one.  There is a park near downtown that I have found on the internet.  I would prefer to see BNSF as I can go to Greeley to see UP.  Thanks in advance.
