My Valentines day present
Posted by overall on Saturday, February 14, 2004 6:38 PM
My wife supervised the kids while I went railfanning at Radnor Yard here in Nashville. That was her gift to me this valentines day. We are fortunate that Radnor has many places where it can be viewed from public property so there is no need to tresspass at all. I watched them push cars over the hump while several trains came and went. They use a combination of an SD-40 and a slug unit to hump cars with. One of the highlights of the day was finally getting a picture of two BNSF "supercarrots" that were about to leave on a train. I had wanted a picture like that for months and now I have it. Very pleasent though the weather was a little chilly.

This is the best present I could have gotten and it didn't cost a dime.

George, you have a very understanding spouse, and you are a very lucky man. Too bad it was simply too cold here to spend any significant length of time out of doors yesterday, but while on our way to see a movie, we did see the Amtrak Chief roll through Eola yard (long train this day). JIm

When you have your pictures developed they can also be put on computer disk at the same time. It doesn't cost much and as soon as you get home you can pop the disk in the computer and download yours pics. They are ready to email out in just minutes. This is what I do.

I have an addy list and I send out my pics to the people on my addy list.

I don't mind sharing them at all.

If anyone wants to be added to my addy list just email me your email addy and I will be more than happy to put you on the list and share pics with you. I just took a few of the UP 3985 that turned out pretty good.

Jim ,
I was unaware I could post pictures from one of those disks. I just have a few frames left on that roll so when I turn it in I will give that a try.

Thanks again.

Digital Photography will help us show and enjoy the hobby. I had a small camera and it really did not add up. Then I got a Concord 3.1 Camera on sale and a 64 meg stick (Memory) to go with it suddenly I can take either 300 pictures or 6 minutes of video or a combination.

My XP Pro treats the camara as a extra storage drive and it is simple to move the "Files" (Pics) from the camera to desktop. From there you can print, email or upload to a host site to link for others to see (Or even burn em onto CD-R's for family to view). No more film, or develpoers and extra expenses YAY!!

Remember that your pictures are created by you.

As for me, I was allowed a no limit trip to the hobby shop (I keep a monthly fixed budget) and later we went out to eat. The weather turned bad so we decided to return home. It was a good day for us.
