I'll check youtube just out of curiosity. So Railfans 1 who-done-it 0. Now CSX needs to catch the guy, now that youtube has kicked him off. I think it may have to do with that i flagged all his bad stuff.

Guess we win this round.

Good- this guy was clearly in violation of the YouTube usage terms. Hated to have his stuff up their side-by-side with mine and other legitimate (open for interpretation Big Smile [:D]) rail videos. Jamie

At least we accomplished something?

A call to 9-1-1 if a crew spots the cretins, along with local police awareness and a response in force might put a quick end to the whole escapade.  There could be a couple of false alarms, but paydirt is sure to come soon.

The fact that the vandals are so focused on the train passing can only help the cause.  They tend to stay until the train passes completely, so they really could be easy to catch in the act.

In fact, some occasional pre-planning on likely days might just put a couple of patrol cars in the area, ready to pouce.

Most of CSX's engines are equipped with video cameras, which should help a little bit.

call was made to Pete Sauve..Dsitrict Manager...he remembered me fortunately.....he was unaware of the specifics but he looked at the youtube while on the phone.....he had received word thru the chain of command from the crews operating thru there....this has been going on for about 2 years now at this location.....the bad news is unless they are "caught in the act" theres not much hope of catching them.....cant see a train crew putting a train in the big hole just to chase some punks across the world...but it is being placed on current daily bullitens.....

If you are witnessing a crime in progress, your local law enforcement are the first responders. Call them (911). If the situation warrants it, local police will call in the FBI, STB, etc later.

I agree completely - call 9-1-1 first and let the local authorities decide if the FBI or anyone else needs to be called.

There's a huge difference between trying to stymie your pursuer and doing stuff like this for kicks.  Don't think I've seen Keaton's film, but it sounds very much like an account of the real event that occured during the Civil War (or what every you want to call it).

This kid is simply evil.

I'd love to be there when this guy is doing it. He'd get some pepperspray in his eyes and a trip to the local court house for the last time...

Many railfans wonder why they get yelled at for standing next to the tracks taking pictures or just watching trains. Jerks like this make it happen. A railfan needs to catch this little punk and THEN CSX can recgonize railfans as being helpful.

On the otherside, this kind of crap has been going on for years. Remember Buster Keaton's "The General" and the train in front of the Texas threw railroad ties out onto the tracks because they didn't need them??? LOL

I was just thinking that this thread kind of reminds me of some of the stories I hear on the CSX from some of the old time engineers.  Some of them have told me that they have ran over just about everything imaginable, water heaters, port o potties...ect. I guess some people just want to see what would happen if the train did run over certain items.

The port o potty I was told was filled with "nasty stuff" Censored [censored] and when it was hit it shattered into a million peices and little Censored [censored] cristals were flying everywhere. The locomotive also looked and smelled like Censored [censored]. EWWWW......

Glad I wasn't conductor on that one!!

Seemed like almost every summer I spent down at my grandparents house  (15 miles outside Evansville Indiana) as a kid my cousins were allways showing me where they got shot with rocksalt by train crews when they used to hop freights to get into town before they could drive, keep in mind this was 20+ years ago during the 80's. mapquest has the ROW listed as "Indiana Hi-Rail" and google says that was formed back in the late 90's so IDK what it was back then..

Slightly off topic and IDK if its still there or not but as of 10ish years ago one of the crossings near my grandma's house still had the oldschool wigwag crossing signal with that single light that swings back and forth. I allways thought those looked neat Smile [:)]

Maybe this is why this guy does this stuff, to get the attention he gets off the internet. I remember one time I saw some comments on firefighter videos. This guy was saying any bad thing he could, just trying to stir up trouble. I glanced at his member page, and lo and behold, his title: Professional youtube hater... This guy simply targeted a group and said bad things, regardless of his stance. After telling people what he had done and to ignore him, it was funny how easily he went away.

Maybe the best thing that could be done in this situation is to simply ignore it. He'll get whats coming to him, one way or another.

J.Edgar,

Be careful.

You take your camera out to observe/record the event to prove it to authorities.

Authorities show up while you are there.

J.Edgar gets accused of being part of the vandalism.

Go talk to local police first, show them the crap on you-tube.Also try to contact CSX locally.

Guys, my advice is not to get too self-important over this type of stuff.  Surely CSX is well-aware of this type of idiocy.  We don't need to think that their future hinges entirely upon what we do or don't do; they're big enough to take care of it themselves.  The reason I say this is that it appears some here feel that CSX doesn't take this seriously.  I'm sure they do, however, and as much as it may pain us to admit it, we're just not that important in their very large universe.

Oh, I have to do it by e-mail of call. I think I live a little too far away to do anything, because it would seem odd to call in something when you live very far away from CSX. I did my part and flagged the videos.

I watched the videos and still don't believe it.  It is hard to imagine such stupidity, can you believe how close this clown was to the train when he was throwing a bicycle under the wheels? What was he thinking?  Maybe that is the problem, he wasn't.  Sure hope this guy gets caught and punished for his reckless disregard for the safety of others.

Have you ever seen the LG television commercial where they are showing ways to get rid of old washing machines and dryers. One of the ways was to set the washer and dryer in the middle of the tracks where a CSX Bright Future GE Loco set pulling a train comes around the bend to hit them. So perhaps CSX does not mind a few sacrificed appliances, as long as there are no derailments.

Too bad the CSX train I saw with a heavy chain dragging off a flat didn't go by there - would have been one less idiot.  That chain was flying all over the place and would have easily taken the clown with the bike out...
