Is this engine in service today?

In the new UP numberplan the UP 3300 is renumbered into #3099. Real renumbered or not, good question!

In Don Stacks UP roster the engine is in service (Problem; The roster was not updated after May 1 2002!).

This weekend I attended the Calgary model train show and on the (very long) drive there much of the highway goes along the CP mainline and so you always see a lot of trains when you drive on that route. The only problem is that it really isn't convienient for taking any pctures. On one CP frieght there was a pusher at the end with United Way on it. It's ironic that on the side it says "Pulling For United Way" when the engine was pushing.

Not too long ago, I saw a photo with the 3300 in the backround. I know it is still numbered 3300. I will have to look around and try to see if I can find it. I also have a couple of photos of the 3300 in Butler, WI not too long after it was painted. I will also have to try to dig those up too and see what I can do about scanning them for you.

[8D]In 1995 I was mistaken for a MP military cop & told to get on the rear loco of a consist of 2 UP SD40-2's # 3300 & 3301 pullin 20 ft containers with explosive placard O.D. green containers by UP's RR police so I played along when i asked him for directions to the nearest store he told me to wait in the loco It was his treat he bought me a plate lunch pack of smokes & a 6 pack of coors
I thought for sure I was In deep [censored] even though I was wearing camoflauge my hair was well below my shoulders as the train pulled away
from the yard lots of railfans were watching so I waved the RR cop told the engineer over the radio and I quote (be careful one of our boy's is guarding this train so give him a smooth ride and tell the next crew the same)
I was in shock I thought for sure some one would say his hairs to long to be a soldier but no one noticed i guess when we stopped in wills point the train crew invited me to eat with them at dairy queen they offered to buy but i refused i told them my moneys just as good as the next workin mans they said your still welcome to join us so i did It was A hell of a ride till St Louis when the yard master told the engineer there was someone on the rear loco he confirmed by telling the yd master i was an MP then the yd master said theirs not supposed to be a guard that UP has carried tanks & stuff before & never had a guard and when he called the ARMY they didnt have anyone doing guard duty on any trains in the U.S. I knew I had just one option

RUN LIKE HELL

but to make a long story short UP never caught me but that was a beautiful locomotive and a very fun ride to bad that St Louis yd master wasn't
blind like every body else it was fun while it lasted

I just read a post from the IlliniRail YahooGroup and it says that the UP 3300 was leading a WB out of County Line at 13:15 on Saturday.
