Is Rochelle in the fog?
Posted by northwesterner on Wednesday, February 11, 2004 2:48 PM
I've been looking at the Rochelle web cam the last couple of days, and it seems like there is fog there.[|)] By comparison, the Willis Cam (Galesburg) [8D]and my personal weather (Buffalo Grove, IL) is absolutely clear.[8D] Does the lens need cleaning or what?[?]

We think that camera might be on its last leg. We're looking into it.

If a new camera is in the offering, might i make a couple of suggestions.

First, a BIGGER picture, I get eye strain looking at that dinky window. This is the one thing I would like to see improved. the rest is just suggestions....

Streaming video? I like the fact that it updates every couple seconds so you can actually SEE the trains go thru, but if you HAVE to replace it? well just an idea...

and finally SOUND, it would be cool to be able to hear whats happening also.

Thats all, Vic

   Have fun with your trains

We see this condition every winter: bright sunlight reflecting off the snow really makes the picture look like garbage. It's not so bad when it's overcast. It'll get better in Springtime.

There's a bandwidth issue at play here. We could make the image larger, but that would severely limit the number of simultaneous users who could enjoy the cam. Perhaps a pair of reading glasses would help? [:)]
