B&O CPL signals in Chicago
Posted by MP173 on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 6:48 AM

We have discussed the B&O type color position light signals in the past on this forum.  These signals were also used by GM&O (ex Alton Route) in Illinois on the Chicago-St.L route.

I spotted what appeared to be one of these signals yesterday just south of the new Brighton Park interlocking.  I was making a left hand turn from Western Ave to Pershing Rd. (southbound to eastbound).  The CSX tracks cross the intersection at a diagonal at that point and looking southeast...there was a southbound signal just south of Pershing Road.  The ROW is elevated at that point and I only had a couple of seconds to look, but it appeared to be a CPL signal.

Can anyone confirm this...and also do you know of others in the city/metropolitan area?
