I was there a few years back with my brother.  We spent time on the sidewalk on the bridge over the north end of the yard (street named Reinken).  THis gave us a good view of most of the yard, including the fueling racks for westbound.  We were there all hours with no problem.  There is parking by the bridge next to the BNSF crew change (lots of railroad people around all the time).  While we were there there was a constant flow of traffic both ways.

This really was a great opportunity for me to learn about the yard activities, refuling, and the traffic on the trancon.  By far my best railfan experience.

Bring lots of water, comfortable chairs and something for shade.

Planning a trip to Belen/Clovis, NM area and was just wondering if anyone has been there for a few days and where the "hot" train-watching spots are.  I will be staying at the Belen Super 8 but will spend most of my time watching the freights! Any advice/tips/recommendations will be greatly alppreciated!  Thanks in advance.
