I live next to the Connemaugh line near Apollo,Pa. Over the past six months or so it seems their has been an increase in traffic. Some days10-15 trains a days other days, alot less. Traffic was cut back considerably since the washout and derailment last month that put 3 locos into the river. Dash 9's are the normal motive power seen in both directions. Used to see mostly coal freights, now I see an increase in mixed freight at around 50+ . By the way, one came through last friday pulling 3 brand new MP15 DC's.

No, I mean the Conemaugh line on the NS; at Conpit Junction, the NS line heading west splits into the Pittsburgh line and the Conemaugh line. The Pittsburgh line ends at the Amtrak station in Downtown Pittsburgh (the Fort Wayne line starts at the bridge over the Allegheny river) . From Conpit Jct. the Conemaugh line goes northwest to Freeport PA., then down the Allegheny River and ends on Pittsburgh's Northside (near the bridge where the Fort Wayne line started). Basically its a round about way to get east/west and Conrail used it mostly when the Pittsburgh line was congested. My question again is does NS use it more or less?

Does anyone know how much is this line being used by the NS in comparison to how much Conrail used it? Do they use it more or less?
