Hi,
I just started reading "Train Time" by John R. Stilgoe. I was wondering if anybody has read that and what your opinion is of the book.
I've only gotten a few pages into the book, so I may be jumping to conclusions, but his views seem a little extreme. For example, he said that railroads will soon be a central part of life in the U.S., and that the impact of that change will be more significant than the impact of home computers.
He also seems to be saying that freight trains should be powered by electricity instead of diesel for performance reasons. According to Stilgoe, the first company to switch to electricity will have a huge advantage of its competitors.
Anyway, it looks like an interesting book, and I'd appreciate any comments.
Thanks.
