Pleasant Surprise/ Revival Of Abandoned Rail Line AB-389 1X

RE: Georgia Great Southern Division, Carolina Central Railroad Co. ....between Albany and Dawson, GA ...13.62 Miles of now Georgia Southwestern RR

Scanning the STB "Decisions & Notices" Web-page today (2/2/04.....
http://www.stb.dot.gov) noticed that an abandoned rail line in Georgia is now coming back to life. In addition, the National Interim Trail Use (NITU) process actually worked for once! A railroad line rising from the ashes!!!

On top of everything else, the trails people (true to form - agree to one thing, interpret it to mean quite something else) are told by the STB "to get over it" and live up to what they agreed to.

Thank you STB and Georgia DOT for resurrecting the line!

'BOUT TIME![:D]

I'd love to see photos of the revival - weeds and brush being cut back,
the grade being filled and new ballast spread, the whole
construction process (I have a scene on my model railroad where an
abandoned line is being reborn). This is definitely worth a few rolls
of film that's for sure. With all the abandoned ROWs up here in the
Midwest scenes like this are fantastic.

I am kinda behind in many of the threads. But I guess many people know the feeling of not being able to read every post in every thread.

This certainly is good news. Maybe with the railroads needing expansion they will take back some more of these trails. I am sure the railfans won't object. [;)]
