SUPER BOOOOOOWWWWWL!!!
Posted by Anonymous on Monday, February 2, 2004 1:02 AM
Dang, what a great game that was today. Regardless of whether you're a Pats or Cats fan. Both teams very much deserved the honor in my opinion. The Pats are only on their third trip to the Big Game and have come quite a long way to their lofty postion today. As a former Boston-area resident, it's also great to see a Boston team in a favored postion for the first time since probably the '89 Celtics.
And I'm glad that the Carolina Panthers got to go to the Super Bowl for their first time. The announcers were right in that they sure were no pushovers. For an underdog, they sure played hard. Both teams managed to provide some excellent, nailbiting action. Definitely an improvement over last year's onesided blowout.

Get a grip, life, brain etc..! Not everyhting on this site has to be related to Trains, so Turn that frown upside down, If you Don't like it don't answer, Got that? so just can it.

Next issue. CP RAIL supports the super bowl, I put that in JUST SO this would now relate to Trains.

Yes the super Bowl was great, a real eye opening half time show, too! [:D]

It was a good game. Much better than I was excepting.

I see no reason why this post is wrong. We have topics on humor, PC issues what do they have to do with trains? I thought this was a place to have fun and meet people.

I'd have to agree with the "and this relates to trains HOW?" faction BECAUSE I seem to recall the use of this ploy on sensitive issues related to our presidents misguided intent to invade Iraq (prior to the invasion) by the "My country, right or wrong" group here, as well as a number of other instances where people brought up issues, then didn't want to hear the converse side of their preferred point of view.

And if yer gonna play that game, it should apply to the "rosey nosed-warm and fuzzy" topics as well as the controversial....fair is fare in other words.

Go to a football forum to discuss the bowl. There are many out there.

First off... What? Sensitive issues *yawn* BORING!..

Second off, Trains.com forum is not a regualr forum. Fot the record, no one wnts to join a forum just to post one little thing, thats rediculous and never go back,
Trains.com forum is exactly like a Small town society, everyone knows each other, and everyone enjoys each others company. Therfore if you don't like posts that are not reflective on Trains, Evedently "SUPER BOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWL" might not have anyhting to do with Trains, although I did hear the EMD is comming out with the New locomotive SUPER BOOOOOOWWWWWL edition!

If you don't like it, would it help if I shed a tear for your cause?

Also, how many people do you knoq on Football forums?

NONE!

How many people do you know on Trains.com Forums..

Oh.. LOTS!

This is no harm done with this thread, your making a MOUNTAIN out of a MOLEHILL, unless you don't like the surgeon's job on Janet Jackson.

Kev, you're showing some smarts today: WAY TO GO!! Some of us here on the forum
don't know that much about the ins & outs of trains. But the comeradary here is GREAT.

I joined the forum to have another way to share in Walt's (locomutt's) love of trains. And
I'm learning a little bit from the rest of you, because you don't get too technical in explanations: although some of you DO get too technical for nincompoops like me to
understand!

Besides, YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO LEARN SOMETHING NEW.

So what if every once in awhile, we get off the subject of trains? That's how we get to know each of the others here on the forum[:D][8D][:P]

Dude, you don't have to shed a tear for me at all, I am a big boy, I can handle it.

My observation is simply geared towards the fact that I've seen this ploy used here, to effect, by some narrow minded people. In the overall, I'd be inclined to agree with you, but the topic of "lets keep it about trains" has been used, including by forum admins in times past, and my argument is, that turning this stipulation on and off, in promotion of victorian, etc, ethics, is just plain LAME.

It's kind of a "if I had to shut my pie hole, why should *they* get away with it? type consideration...Not any adverse feelings towards football, the championship, or the deteriorating Jackson family,..I assure you.

But, the next time someone comes in bleating over some "Dixie Chicks" type ~scandal~, and I point out that our legal system protects the rights of people to hold thir own opinion(s), then volunteer a supporting argument lending validity to the non-mainstream point of view, I will expect your support when the good ol boy network tells me to pack it up and take it to a political forum,...good enough? If I don't like what I see in a certain thread, I go and hit the "back" button at the top of my browser or click "Railroads" near the bottom of this display and move on. I don't have to respond to it. By lack of responses the topic will die of its own accord....

Enough said.

OK, I've seen the argument of "hey, lets keep it to railroads only" ploy used to quash debate, simply when one party didn't like hearing an argument against their point of view (IE why it was wrong to attack Iraq, after another member was hooting and hollering all for it, under the guise of patriotism,..etc etc)

So, my point is, if censoring mindshare by imposing a stipulation of "lets keep it to railroading" is the rule of order, then lets playby those rules, making no exception.

Its a matter of "rulz is rulz, or they ain't" Granted, there are poliical forums for political debate,.. There are also football fan forums....this is a railroad forum..

If you want to preserve "football" as a legit topic of discussion, fine, but the next time someone expresses satifsfaction over the job George W Bush. has done as president, and I contest that assertion, if I am told to take that argument to a political forum, will you be willing to stand up and defend my right to express my view? (so long as vulgarity is avoided)?

It seems like the "Hey this forum is for railroad discussion only" "rule" seems to be unevenly enforced, in other words,...why is that?

Is that better or worse?

[sigh]

Wow, this thread reminds me of the one about six months ago when we (as a group) got sick and tired of some fellow's ranting (I seem to recall it was about conspracies on the part of the railroads about grade crossing accidents) and he was "thrown off" of the forums. Now I ask the very simple (no need to be dumbed down for anybody)...And this has to do with Trains HOW?, and I get my ever lovin' head chopped off at the neck. I come onto our little forum here not to be preached to or scolded by anybody over any issue at all, but rather to learn more about trains and railroading and to share my observations, period...and my observation about the initial thread above is that it had absolutely nothing to do with trains at all...period, nothing more. Oh, by the way Kevin, I do have quite a life, thanks very much for asking.

You are right - it didn't - but the Mookie has never been one that thought we should only say trains every other word....(as you have probably noticed). But I also think that if we at least keep it mostly about trains, we should be allowed to transgress once in awhile - into other subjects - especially since the whole US is talking about it. And....I am pretty much snowed out of watching for awhile, so enjoy reading almost anything at this point.

I am frantically trying to come up with a trains question - but nothing seems to be moving upstairs right now. So will just read on.

What might be being overlooked here is that the title says what the topic's about. If you're curious, have a peek...if it's not interesting, leave it alone.
