has anybody ever traveled amtrak from st. louis to las vegas.i would like to know about how long does it take to get there. thank you.

....I've been in both places but not between them by train but I'd suggest pulling up Amtrak on here and check schedules. You will be able to check it out.

I went to Amtrak.com and there are two options.

(1) You can go from Saint Louis to Kansas City. Wait for about an 1hour and half and catch the Kansas City to Needles California train. After about an hour catch the Needles to Las Vegas Amtrak bus. All together this will take about 13 hours. Also the trains may be a bit late.

(2) Saint Louis to Los Angeles. Then take the Amtrak bus from Los Angeles to Las Vegas.
All together this will take about 18 hours.

The first choice would be the better of the two. The reason that is takes so long is you have to wait between trains. For more info just go to Amtrak.com and follow the instructions they give you.

I think you could take a bus to Las Vegas from Barstow

The total elapsed time St louis - Las Vegas via Kansas City and Needles is 39 hours; via Los Angeles it is more like 48 hours. Add to that you will have to transfer in Needles, and you will arrive in Las Vegas at o' dark 30 in the morning. So unless you really want to ride the train you would be better off flying.
