NKP was the New York, Chicago, & St. Louis Railroad. Nickel Plate is a nickname that stuck -- it was a reference to the quality of its route and construction.
Wheeling & Lake Erie is an entirely separate railroad, though at one time it did have partial common ownership with the Nickel Plate.

what was the actual name of the Nickel Plate Road
I was told Wheeling And Lake Erie but They werent sure
So if any one should know it should be yall[:)]
