The unit evidentily went to Omnitrax in Colorado for rebuild during 2001. Check for Omnitrax (OMLX) 2001, reported as working on the Alabama and Tennessee River last year. Data from LocoNotes and The Diesel Shop.

I found an article that says that they went to the Panhandle Northern Railway...

Fate of Illinois Terminal GP38-2 #2001

I recently bought Athearn's HO GP38-2 from Illinois Terminal, roadnumber 2001. I have been trying to trace what became of it after N&W bought the ITC. I have come up with this so far:

NW 4160 on 11/81
NS 4160 on ??/??
Georgetown Railroad (GRR) 4160 on 5/92
Central Kansas (CKRY) 381 on 4/00

The trail runs cold there. The Kansas & Oklahoma took over the CKRY but I don't see this unit on their roster. Anyone know what became of it?
