I visited there several times and got home in time to see myself on the pictures. Proof I was there for the wife and kids.

At Rochelle at 1 a.m. or 2 a.m., hey guys, I can dig all this railfan stuff, but REALLY!!!!

Hey Eolafan. Hate to admit it but the last time I was there was at 12:30 am last Saturday. Was on the way home from Ames, Iowa and just had to stop for a look see especially since we had just passed an eastbound coal train. Spent fifteen minutes and caught two UP and one BNSF train. Both UP's were coal trains with DP units on the rear and the BNSF was a hot intermodal. It was also refreshing enough out there at that hour that we were quite awake for the rest of the trip home. Even the scanner in the pavilion was breaking up from the cold.

Never been there in the winter. Looking forward to it sometime though. Not looking forward to freezing though!

It was cool being there at 1:00 A.M., especially since it was my first time there. I was suppose to be on my way home from a friends house, and got "sidetracked".[:D] I had to work at 7:00 A.M. too, got 2 and a half hours sleep. I told my boyfriend last night, he said I"m nuts. [:D]

Actually, there's a method to their madness...UP, at least, tends to run much of its intermodal business through Illinois in the wee hours...eastbound, anyway. If one had the stamina for such a thing, an early-morning fan party there would be fun! However, I'd choose a time that wasn't in the middle of January! And if it's a warm summer night, just pray that the pop machines don't break down or run out!

Rochelle really is an active place. There's a lot of people always walking around that town. It makes you feel more relaxed though.

What I would like to know is, what is that building up at the top end of the street on the right? At night it has a sort of pink glow about it.

Sitting here in sub-tropical Queensland it's often nice to look at the snow just to cool down a bit :)

Pretty sure it's a residential garage. I've see the overhead door open. Probably a sodium light - they have an orangi***inge.

Thanks Larry - I think I've seen it open a couple of times now I think about it

Tried to wave in the camera while a train was going right before we left to go home. When we got home and checked the recent images...... there we were! It was awesome!

I'm sure that's a light shining off of a garage. The building in the center of the diamond is part of the warehouse for Del Monte.

Watch it enough and you'll see people crossing the tracks, walking around the hobo pit and on top of the strap rail, mowing, all sorts of stuff. Never mind the MOW people who are almost always working on the diamonds. Occasionally you'll see the garage door on the right side of the screen open and close...

I've seen a lot of people, you just have to watch a while. It's cool to see some of your friends that wave at you there sometimes.
