Nice photos! As a minor point, 2816, a subclass H1b, is not a "Royal Hudson" per se, being built in 1930 and predating the introduction of the semi-streamlined features of later subclass H1c and H1d Hudsons in 1937 and 1938, which featured the royal crown mounted on the running board sheathing above the cylinders on each side, hence the name Royal Hudson.

Yes I meant La Crosse, not Milwaukee, my mistake.

I'm satisfied with having one steam engine, but still, that is going to be one heck of a show in Minnesota and Wisconsin. If you are in Minneapolis/St. Paul or La Crosse, or any point in between, mark September 15th on your calendar as this promises to be one heck of a event.
Does anyone know the schedule of the doubleheader? We're planning on pacing the 2816 & 261 along the mississippi river.(Or at least trying to)
So far as I know that was always the plan. The fourth from Chicago to La Crosse, and the fifth up the Mississippi River from La Crosse to Minneapolis. They laid over in Milwaukee on the way down. If you read under the "September 1, 2, 3" paragraph on the 261 website, it talks about the deadhead move home and says the layover will be in La Crosse.

I'm heading to the River on the 15th to take photos around Winona, and I'm looking forward to it. It promises to be a good event. I didn't see the one in 2004, so this'll be my first main line doubleheader.
Went out after the trip today. Sure was nice to see him running along. He did make a water stop at Portage, but otherwise it was a straight through run. He had a CP diesel and a couple of boxcars with generators in them for HEP.
He was darn hard to chase, as he was moving right along, but I got a few different shots. He was running a little bit ahead of schedule and is said to have departed Portage around 5pm.
I guess this depends on whether they are running with an Amtrak "toaster" or a CP unit. We'll have to get the reports from today's movement. Aug. 30 is to Chicago Union Station but the Sept. 1-3 trips are mostly on the CP with a brief trip over the Milwaukee District North Line from Tower A-20 (Techny Rd.) to Rondout and then back on the CP.
The 261 ran as an Amtrak extra (I saw the offical schedule, they were symboled something like Amtrak 992 or something), so they were required to stop at every Amtrak station on the ferry move. As far as I know the 2816 is running as a regular CP train though, so I wasn't sure if they'll be making stops for water somewhere or anything.
Does anybody know if they have a planned servicing stop somewhere along the way on the Ferry move on the 29, or are they planning on going straight through to Milwaukee? Any scheduled times for intermediate stops too, or is the only schedule the one already posted?
Thanks In Advance,Noah
I do know the schedule for the Sat., Sun., and Mon. round-trips.
Dep: Franklin Park, 10 a.m. - Arr: Sturtevant, NoonDep: Sturtevant, 1:30 p.m. - Arr: Franklin Park, 4 p.m.
They would likely use the new Sturtevant station for the "trackside" lunch. The train must turn on the wye at the old station using the west leg. There's not much left at the old boarded up station and there are no facilities.

Does anyone know the schedule (departure/arrrival) for the CP Royal Hudson ferry move from Minneapolis to Milwaukee on Aug. 29 and from Milwaukee to Chicago Union Station on Aug. 30?
Thanks!
