nigell, Most engines are turned (the term we use on the railroad}. by a track wye. the engine moves at a 90 degree curve to the right then backs over to theleft swicth then moves 90 degree to the left which in turns the engine 180 degrees. most railroads today dont have turn tables because theyre to labor intense.
