The two best places I know of are South Portland/Digby Yard area and Bangor. Guilford from Bangor south and BAR in the north...or whomever owns them now. There are also tracks that run from Portland north parallel to the Guilford line through Yarmouth, which are labeled for St Lawrence and Atlantic but I have never seen any thing on them. Out of Portland you can also watch Amtrak on its Boston run. Also, Brunswick is where the old Maine Coast Line interchanges cement cars with Guilford. They also run an autumn leaf excursion which was powered by an RS11. i don't knwo if Guilford still runs the Waterville shops, never made it up there, but it used to be worth a visit I hear.

Some years ago my young son and I enjoyed a visit to Northern Maine Junction just outside Bangor----we also visited Waterville... ...we saw a reasonable amount of activity for the 6 or more hours we spent watching that day----that was about 1984---we lived in California at the time and were paying a visit to the maternal G'parents in Lisbon Falls...
