The State of Illinios has found the most effective safe crossing is one with both double gates and lane dividers. They have tried a catch net, It was written up in the Chicago Tribune. This net was designed to drop down and catch any car proceeding pass the stop line. It was a failure though, they found in test that a speeding car just tour the net.
