I know of several accidets no fault of the person hit by the train. Before you all yell; It also WAS NOT THE FAULT OF THE LOCOMOTIVE ENGINEER either, NEVER IS! So "NOT every single time". The last such accident was just two days ago. Here in California an Amtrak train hit a clorine tank truck on a blind crossing.

I have been at that same crossing myself several times. It is blind! TRAIN SPEED vs. SIGHT DISTACE IS EVERYTHING at all unsignalled crossings - NO EXCEPTIONS. From the point where a train is first visible, it takes about five seconds to get to the crossing. Now considering that the road is one lane wide with a very tight corner on one side, any big lumbering truck is always going to take more than five seconds to start across and clear the tracks. The train can be out of sight of any driver and he still hasn't time to cross.

I've said it before in this forum. An accident is absolutely certain at all blind crossings. Its just a gamble as to who will get it - We could "Take a Pool". It certain
to happen.

QUIZ:
1. Who was the stupid person that rightfully gets the blame?
A. Witnesses.
B. Missouri
C. Trains.com
D. The Locomotive Engineer
E. The Truck Driver

Weel, lets see.
A. Surely the witnesses didn't stop the truck, or the train.
B. Missourri didn't do anything about it except PO people on this forum.
C. Trains.com isn't involved - except to provide a forum for this noisy subject
D. The locomotive engineer couldn't even see the truck until five seconds before
E. The trucker couldn't see the train either - I suppose some might fault him for not refusing to cross at all.

HEY, ITS A TRICK QUESTION! Try your GOVERNMENT - they did it! They made that crossing blind! and thousands more just like it! And the'll keep on doing it, Too. Until we put the blame where it belongs - and raise a big stink until they get tired of us and fix the problem.

We are tired of ourselves on this issue, we ought to be able to make the politicans tired too!
