Metro North FL-9 units
Posted by eolafan on Sunday, July 14, 2002 10:37 AM
Trains magazine, in their recent article, stated that the Metro North FL-9 units were all but gone and only a few were being kept on as protection power and that normally the new Genesis units were on the trains. Well, I recently returned from New York where I had a chance to travel to the northern most terminus of the Harlem Line. I saw three trains between Brewster and Winisik (sp?) and all three had back-to-back FL-9's with either two or three coaches. Looks to me like the FL-9 is alive and well on Metro North. Oh, by the way, all six of these units looked and sounded great to me (gave me a good feeling as I grew up with these units since the 1950's when they were new and rode behind them into Grand Central in the 1970's, I am now living in Chicago metro area).
