Old Railroad video's from the 1940-50 from my grandfather while he was a member of Railroad Club of Southern California while he worked for SP.

This video include shots from Railroad Club of Southern California of Southern Pacific and a trip to Canada and The Chicago Railroad Fair in the 1940's.

     It is not often one is shown actual footage of those times 40's-50's. Especially railroad themes.

 Listed were 1 thru 4, but I was able to see the first two. Looking forward to having some more time to see them all.

   In the first one, I thought I saw, maybe one or two sets of articulated passenger cars(?). Not having been in California til late '60's. I was surprised to see a cab forward type pulling a regular scheduled(?) passenger train.

Found the following video on You Tube that was apparently, a professinally done, advertisement of the 1948 Chicago Railroad Fair. It was excelent in its definition of the diaorama:

After viewing it, It did show the area of what was apparently, a living, historical diaorama of the 100 preceeding years of US  History.  Thgere were the historical syeam engines and their period cars. The Pioneer Zephyr, and the C&EI and CB&Q F units, but no UP 4002.     Back to the research!

There are a couple of versions of the above linked video, and there are a number of others, that are edited to show much of the same... How many Railroads provided locomotives and displays?

After looking at the photos, and videos of  the 48/49 Fair, the efforts by the Industry that committed to that Exposition; one has to wonder if a similar event could be pulled off in this day, and time?
