BNSF is playing catch-up as fast as they can, building new main tracks, adding capacity to intermodal terminals. But it is interesting to watch them try to juggle everything when they add in the grain trains, and manifests. There are many days when we sit outside terminals, waiting to get in, or crawl along the "high speed transcon" 30 miles from the terminal. It's like being in a holding pattern at a large airport. And it's not just on weekends anymore, either. America is reaping the results of decades of highway-centered thinking. Hope we can build new rail infrastructure quickly enough to absorb our ever-increasing freight volumes.
