Amtrak Derailment in Mississippi

Some answers to some of the questions. Most of the track on the yazoo district is in fact welded. The majority of that line was double track main until a few years ago when IC took up one track to make it single main. As it was stated earlier, there have been four or five derailments in this same area. With that in mind, the rails may have been replaced with jointed. The one locomotive did in fact stay upright, but the right rail rolled out all the way to the front of the train. Will keep you informed with what I hear, since it is a local event. <br />
