If those 265H engines are going into tugs it won't be a diesel electric set up,tugs are direct drive. But they may be for some of the newer,high speed ferries which do use electric propulsion. CAT is doing good business with their almost 10,000HP 3618 engine for this application. <br /> When hopes for the 6,000 horse units were still high both EMD and GE were talking about 7,500 and 8,000 HP in future engines. At least I've been lucky enough to catch CSX AC60ACs on the Boston line. <br /> BTW,Fairbanks Morse diesels still serve quite succesfully as APUs on the United States Navy's Nuclear sub fleet.
