Hello
This is Richard J. Simpson, Director of the AMMEXTREN Project. We are working on bringing the passenger train service back to the US Mexico Border for service into Mexico. Currently the first location for this service will be Nogales Sonora on the border wirh Arizona. This service then will tie into the existing service for trips through Mexico's Copper Canyon. We are planning then to proceed down to Guadalajara where the service will tie into the Tequila Express and in the near future to the Puerto Vallarta Express which is another project in construction. We have many people and State Governments involved with this in Mexico. We need people in the USA, the border States especially to write to their Governors and US Representatives to help gain support for this service to our border communities. For more information you can contact me at mxriko@hotmail.com . Thank you.
Very Sincerely Yours
Richard J. Simpson
President International Border Relations
Director AMMEXTREN

Richard,
Welcome to the forums. Good luck. No offense, but we need people to write to their Governors and US Representatives to help gain support for Amtrak first.
Providing basic service in the US should come before we provide service to Mexico. Today with airlines pulling out of small regional airports and towns its only more importnat to properly fund Amtrak.
I wish you luck in your endeavor.

The problems with AMTRAK are not my fault or doing. It is an organization over bureaucratized and regulated, that is why it loses so much money.
This service will benefit the US tourist and not cost our Country anything. Also as little as most people know unless we undertake projects to provide some economic development in Mexico and Latin America, our very National Security will be at great risk.
In the future I anticipate you will see smaller more effeciently managed passenger trains running once again in the USA. The service needs to be competative and profitable. Thank you and God Bless America.
Sincerely
Richard J. Simpson

Richard,
Good Luck. I meant offense, I never stated that Amtrak was your doing. My point is how can I write my "Government" to request support for passenger rail service when they fail to support any of teh existing rail service.
Also with NAFTA we have supported Mexico, but guess what the US worker has paid the price and guess what is happening now - Mexico is losing jobs to even cheaper labor. When will the average tax paying American get a break. Economic development need to happen in the US as well.

I agree. NAFTA in theory is good. Most (90%) of our manufacturing jobs are being lost to China. Mexico is our number two trading partner in the world. So it benefits us to help Mexico, not China.
One of the main reasons for our manufacturing jobs leaving is the over regulation by the EPA and other restrictions. The other is the labor unions, it is a fact.
The reason our politicians will not support Amtrak is that it has lost so much money for so long. I think it needs to be put on the market for competative bid and restart as a privately run enterprise and hopefully receive the governments assistance to get it going and to make it healthy.
What my office does is to work on projects that provide economic development and gains for our border communities and we do also promote all of North America which does include Mexico.
I appreciate your opinions. Thank you.
Sincerely
Richard
