Silver Meteor>Comfortable and speedy from Florida to New York. Good stretches at 80mph (officially 79mph). Meals on the pricy side but good. NIce scenery through the Carolinas.

"I like my Pullman Standards & Budds in Stainless Steel flavors, thank you!"

It is a long time since I was able to ride Amtrak, but doesn't anyone vote for the California Zephyr? Admittadly the real CZ was the real thing, and the RGZ was tops also in its "Never on Wednesday" way, but still, doesn't the CZ still have the best scenary and isn't the Superliner lounge car a great place to watch it? It has to be the Acela Express -- its super smooth, quiet(on-board) and fast, you don't realize that its tilting until you look outside.
Speaking as a Brit; it really is world class -- ranking up there with the European HSTs.

[bow] I definitely vote for the California Zephyr! I've taken the CZ round trip many times between Chicago and Oakland, CA. The majestic scenery out west was a free perk. With one exception (heading west that trip), I've always enjoyed the experience. Having sleeping car accommodations was always worth the extra money, too--just to have some privacy if you wanted it. The train crew always seemed pleasant. Later this coming year I want to take the Cardinal to Washington, D. C. What I really want to experience however is ACELA service in the NEC. Has anyone had that 'rush' yet? Would like to hear your impressions if you have. The Sunset Limited would be a fun trip too I think.[8D]
