[#welcome] to the forums!

It's funny you should mention Richmond, CA. Just back in November we had a discussion about local news channel KRON and their reporter standing on the mainline tracks [#wstupid] talking about the residents complaining about the train noise. [D)]

I'm not trying to rehash and reopen the old subject but here a link to the discussion and a link to the news article.

I emailed Operation Lifesaver and here's their responce:

QUOTE: Thanks for your thoughts.

We do everything we can manage to try to discourage "bad ads" which show people
doing dangerous things on the tracks, and to discourage TV stations, magazines
and newspapers from showing people (including their reporters) on the tracks.

Unfortunately, magazine editors and news reporters change all the time. Just as
soon as you get through to one batch so thinking about safety, another group
comes in needing education. Same thing with outreach. OL Presenters do give
safety talks to a lot of high school students, and college students where rail
trespassing problems are known.

...

Sincerely,
G. Hall, Operation Lifesaver, Inc.

I also emailed the news station about the situation. Here's their responce:

QUOTE: Thank you for writing to KRON 4, the Bay Area's News Station. We

appreciate you taking the time to let us know what you think about our
station.

Your email will be read by a member of the KRON 4 staff and forwarded

to the appropriate department. However, due to the large amount of emails
wereceive every day, sometimes it takes several days for messages to be processed.

Also, we cannot accept messages with attachments. If you would like to
email us a document, please cut and paste the text of the document into the
body of the email message.

Thank you for your patience, and thanks for watching KRON 4.

As Homer Simpson would say: "yeah, but what are ya gonna do?"

With all due respect, my advice to you would be to find out where all the complaining is and there you'll find a good place to watch trains. [;)]

Good luck and be safe.
