Welcome again!
The move has been made, the switcher has uncoupled and is back to its track! The twins, Flo and Janie are just cleaning up the mess caused by the rough train ride over badly laid track...
A trace of bread crumbs has been laid out to the old place, so we are ready to go!
Hey! Thanks Ulrich!
Flo, any decafe left? Hope the pot didn't spill like my mug here. Oh and could I have a couple paper towels, I seem to have gotten my pants wet....
No Barry! That is not what happened! Sheesh, what a mind......

Not so dumb a look Jeffrey, I had to ask in a diner far far away and in another time zone what a RBF was! I also wondered about your taco soup! thanks for clearing that up Jeffrey. Now what IS a SRP-
OH! OH! OH! I think I figured it out! IS IT A Strawberry Rubbarb Pie?????????
Have a good nite everyone

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.
Strawberry Rhubarb Pie. Thanks for clearing that up. If I wasn't whacked on pain killers right now I probably would have known that.
If Vinnie so much as suspects somebody will throw a pie he'll tie their arms in a knot.
jeffrey-wimberly If Vinnie so much as suspects somebody will throw a pie he'll tie their arms in a knot.
Good! I think the pie throwing is very juevenile and unnecessary. But I was told in the last diner to "lighten up" and that "you gotta have some fun once in awhile".
Besides while I like to EAT pies, I do like CAKE too! Noone will throw cakes as they just aren't as messy.
Good nite all have a good sleep.
Evening all. It's still March here in Jersey, but we can pretend we're three hours in the future...
Janie, could I please have a-- uh, Barry, what are you doing... oh no... SPLATTTTT! Oh, thanks. I wanted some pie anyway, just not on my face. Oh well, at least it's apple...
Well, after I finish licking my face clean, I'll go back to the old diner to catch up...

Evening everyone,
Found the new spot.
Ulrich - thanks for making the move. Jeff - I noticed you posted our new forwarding address.Your post says locked but the thread doesn't show the little lock symbol in the title. Don't know if it matters or not.
Well the weather guessers said it was supposed to clear up today and be about 55F. Well the sun never did show its face and it felt like it never got above 45F. Oh well, I guess tomorrow is as good as any day for another try at better weather.
Pat
Good Evening, Flo, I see you and Janie are in for Chloe tonight (and for the straightening up...). I'll have a hot fudge brownie with vanilla ice cream on top, and a Rio Grande mug of dark roast, please. Thanks!
I'd thought I would be in here before the move; however, I'd forgotten about time zones and Ulrich being a few hours ahead of us. So Ulrich, if you're already in tomorrow, can you fill me on about what's gonna happen in my April 1st tomorrow?
Welp (as Todd is fond of saying), I have my laptop's AC adapter/charger back with it, the laptop's 120 GB drive has been cloned onto the desktop's same sized drive, and the weather here in Cape was grand today! We reached the mid-70's F today (or low 20's C), and the sun was out in all its glory, with some fairly strong breezes - delightful!
Didn't have any afternoon appointments, so the daytime hours I was off (no smart-alec comments there, Barry!) until 4:30 p.m. (local time), when I came on-call. Hoping for a very dull evening, I am. Picked up the refund check for my electric bill that I mistakenly overpaid last month (leaving me with a negative balance this month, which they would have loved to hang onto, but I figure if they're gonna fuss when I'm late one day paying, I will fuss back. (Harrrumph, and take THAT, Ameren!).
Was fiddling with the layout design again last night; I'm still trying to get the hang of how to modify a previously drawn plan, so I can change to the grades and see what kind of grades I'll have as it is. Turnouts have to be a level piece (okay...), and then you specify to what height you need the track to go. But when I try to do that, sometimes it puts the grade the reverse direction, and elevates a turnout that is supposed to be at 'zero' inches elevation. I foresee more fiddling with it and lots of manual reading, plus emails to the developer in my future, I think.
For those of you drying out to our East, the good news is, we're under a 'do not burn' order today, due to the winds drying everything out (and possibly blowing around any fires that a fool around here might start a day before his holiday...), so I would hope that your turn at some drying out may not be too far away... Cross your fingers and say your , anyway.
Yep, Galaxy and Barry, I see it is SRP season again, eh? Think I'll settle in the corner booth and devour my hot fudge brownie a la mode before the pies start moving aeronautically.
Prayers for those healing up, and for those out of their homes lately (because of the rivers that are out of their homes). Stay safe and dry if that applies in your area. And anyone been in touch with Calif. Tom, Fergie or the other MIA Diners?
Blessings,
Jim in (today and tomorrow and Friday) Sunny Cape Girardeau

Geez Jim, don't rub it in. Its been so long since the sun has been out that I forget what it looks like. They are guessing that it will get upto almost 80F on Saturday. It was 27F for the overnight low on Monday. Talk about a temperature swing!
All this talk about SRP has me hungry. Been awhile since I had a SRP. I'll have to see if the Boss can bake one for me.

I did not throw any such pie. I saw that coming from behind--Kerrssplisssshhhh!!! sigh --- at least it was Lemon Meringue Pie----right in my ear too.
I think I'll just meander over to the corner booth and hide under it

Look at THIS!!! I walk in a full 2 HOURS after the Diner has been moved, and what have we??? SOMEONE else threw a pie!!! NOT ME!!! No siree BOB!!!!
Here is the aftermath of when I opened the door!
Of course, I probably had it coming!
And to my friend (as we are ALL friends here) I just wanted to clarify:
galaxyBut I was told in the last diner to "lighten up" and that "you gotta have some fun once in awhile".
I never mentioned to anyone to "lighten up", I DID however say "you gotta have fun once in a while"! I would NOT behave like this in a REAL World Diner, for the exact reason you mentioned previously, for fear of being kicked out! But HERE, it is just a way to let off steam, and I tip extremely high on the days that I let off excessive "steam"!!!
THAT, and I agree with the poster who mentioned "anyone who throws a Pecan Pie is JUST MEAN!"
Well, I have my written test on Morris Interlocking to Mantua Interlocking (Northeast Corridor, Amtrak) and 30th Street Station (Amtrak) tomorrow, so I shall be hitting the sheets in a few short minutes. Please pray for me as this will be a little difficult, I have been having a hard time remembering some of the Distant Signals to the Interlockings.

Evening ya'll. Just a stop in before I hit the hay.
I had to drive my brother all the way to dothan so he could pick up some wheels for his car. Never though a 4-hour drive (2 each way) would tire me out.
Guess I should get out before a pie flies my way....

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
Catching up from the last and this diner...
Ulrich, VERY VERY NICE (I said it before, but I'm saying it again since it's done) loco! And thanks for choosing a nice location for the Diner!!
Sawyer, I know that feeling of teachers trying to cram before break (which, for us, is the end of the quarter). Last Friday I had to make up three tests from the two days before (sick), one of which I found out I was taking literally 5 minutes before I took it (fortunately, it was easy). But good luck on those anyway!
Ray, that sounds... just, lovely... Yum...And sure that's not how it happened... if you say so...
Jim, the wind was the major factor in the Ocean Grove fire a few weeks ago, despite the fact that it was pouring. But the rain saved the rest of the town from burning...
Barry, if that wasn't you, then who was it? Cause they were wearing a disguise, apparently trying to frame you... hmmmm....
Sam, good luck on the test! If you could survive the NYP test, you should do fine.
I am so looking forward to this extremely nice weather this weekend! It's about time the precipitation stops! It snowed a lot all winter long, and then we've had pouring rain since then, with the exception of one nice warm week! Rediculous...
Well, that about does it for now. I'll catch you guys tomorrow.

Good Evenin', RBF please 'n thankya.
Thanks to ULRICH for lining up the move, and JEFF for being kind enough to point the way to the new location. to ya both!
DER JOHN: I just had some thoughts pop into my head about your service area. For toolboxes, how about the brown (red?) jobsite boxes the construction guys use? Weather-tight and lockable to keep undesiribles out of the secured desirables. Also, instead of cardboard boxes, I recall an article about some metal bins, designed to be moved by forklift or small crane, THAT the CNW used. Just a basic steel box with a "handle" over the top hefty enough for lifting. I believe the article said they hauled just about anything THAT would fit in the things, and shipped 'em in company service 40' boxcars. And, if anybody could make N-sane scale brake shoes (probably something at a diesel service platform), plastic water bottles, etc.; my money would be on you!
SAM: Here's wishing you the very best of luck on your exams!
Lonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnng day today: oil change in SeeetheRabbits, spent an hour and a half with a guy who thinks he's got dinosaur fossils. Yup. While they HAVE been found in Ioway, they've been in the extreme northwest corner of the state. The University of Iowa's Paleoentology Dept. (which, I didn't even know they had...) told him "those are just rocks." A guy from the Dept. of Natural Resources said "it's NOT impossible." The guy has some fossils...but who knows what from. Jurassic Park, I'm thinking not. He's been digging this stuff up for 2-1/2 years now, after his father died. He promised his Dad, on his deathbed "your name will live forever." The only way he's figured out to do THAT...is to have a new species of dinosaur named after him.
Yup.
But, THAT's what we do in "community journalism." We take the wing-nuts and give 'em their 15 minutes in the spotlight. We take the dude with the largest zuchinni in the county, and put him on the front page. Welp, this guy's zuchinni is a 2-1/2 year rock collection...
Then, it was 3 hours of school board meeting...with a lot of "we could do this, we could do THAT" in preparation for finalizing the budget...next week. *sigh*
Tomorrow, I'm heading to BOONE...which used to be a place of annual escape to tranquility. I'd sit on the hill overlooking the Kate Shelley High Bridge. Tomorrow though, I'm stuck inside all day (80 and sunny!!!) with a bunch of newspaper people. It's a sportswriter and photographer's workshop. *sigh* Tomorrow night...I'll try to make something out of the school board meeting. It's a 3-hour drive, so I have to be up around 0430 to hit the road by 0530 with an ETA of 0830 for the 9AM start-up; allowing time for a gas and "breakfast" stop along the way. Since Boone is on Hwy. 30, it's really "just down the road a-piece."
Bedtime...best wishes to all in need,
Chris

Ulrich, I love the way that your locomotive looks. It is BEAutiful!!! Can't wait to see it all weathered up. Also, as always, thanks for arranging the move for us.
Well, not a whole lot happening around here, just waiting on Heather to crash off to sleep before I do the same.
Vincent, wish I would have known that you were coming up to Dothan, I only live an hour, hour and a half north of there.
Guess that is about it for me, think I'm going to head off to bed gotta be at w**k tomorrow at noon, but before heading in, I've got stuff to do around here at the house. I'll see y'all later.
Hi all, I'm new here. Jeff has brought me over from his Rails of the World. I signed up a while back, but forgot about it. I figured it wouldn't hurt me to come over here and join the fun! I'll take a apple pie in the face please!
Good Morning,
I got up in the middle of the night - just as every night, but in time to move the Diner into its new location. A pleasant site, I must say, right in the middle of a busy yard, with lots of action to watch. Now, Barry, Sam and Tom - I don´t mean this pie flinging contest which seems to have been re-started the last days. Thought, this was a peaceful and neat place, but
Kerrshplitz ...
thank you, I did not order this walnut cream pie!
Zoe, may I have a towel, please, and my usual cafe au lait and 2 croissants, with butter and strawberry jam, thank you.
Belen - a hearty ! You have found the right place - lotsa nice people in here (if it weren´t for the strange habit of flinging pies). It is a place to socialize and share views and thoughts - not always MRR related. Think of it as a corner booth in your model railroad club, where you meet your buddies. Of course, we are a curious bunch, so please tell us a little bit about yourself and your MRR activities (John, I did it - I took this one of you...)
Robby P. - I need some hints on the weathering job for my loco. I don´t want to give it a heavily weathered and rusted look, as this is most unlikely in Europe. even BR did clean their equipment, now and then. The look I want to achieve is that of a used, but maintained loco. I want to lightly spray the roof with a streak of dull black to simulate the soot and grime from the exhaust. The chassis and the trucks I just want to "tone down" with a light spray of a brownish gray to simulate dust and grime - that´s all. I want to use enamels, which I still have, heavily diluted. Would that work and achieve the results I want to have? Wish I could do that together with you!
The weather has turned into what we call the typical Hamburg "Schmuddelwetter", dull and overcast, with the odd spell of ra*n (Belen, we never spell out the words ra*n, sn*w and w*rk!) - just in time for the Easter holidays. Gas prices hiked up to $ 8 a gallon - miraculously, all oil companies did the increase in the same day. No, they did not agree on an illegal price-fixing...
The track plan and the scenery for my layout are pretty much fixed now. Some areas needed a rework, due to clearance issues and construction of the sub roadbed. I am now searching for materials I will need, such as BR outline signals, backdrop with city scenes, just odds and ends like this. I also need to talk to my friend and set up a date with him to assemble the benchwork - he has all the necessary tools. It´s about time - I can hardly wait for the loco to have her maiden run!
Have a rewarding day!
Good morning all,David, Welcome to the diner!Went to the MRR Club last night; I’m working on a apple orchard behind the diner I installed last fall. I have the ground cover down and the club bought me a bag of WS tree armatures to build up some apple trees. The ground cover the club uses is homemade and looks just as good as WS or anything else available publicly. Foam mattress and pillow material is ground in a blender then dyed with Rix or other suitable fabric dye. Last night they were grinding up hard tan foam, we shall see how that works out. Next week I’ll try and bring a camera to share some pictures.

Good morning. It's 58 and cloudy. The high will be just below 80 and it will be partly cloudy.I got the rusted covered hopper done yesterday. Those bright blue areas peeking through were really bugging me. A wash of 'Rusted Earth' latex paint took care of them. No appointments to go to today but I do have to go out to pay bills. Almost as bad.
Good Morning All,
I see the ladies have gotten the debris from the move cleaned up and the pie shrapnel as well. If it's safe to do so I'll take a seat here at the RC and have a regular and a waffle with blueberries.
Jim - glad to see you back and all charged up so to speak. Good luck with figuring out the revisions. I still haven't fully surveyed my new area and haven't even started preliminary sketches.
Speaking of MIA here we haven't heard from Grayfox for a while either. Hope he's just been too busy with his layout and not too busy bailing water or doing his HD lists. It's finally ceased raining altogether here though it's still cloudy. Today is supposed to be partly cloudy with a high near 70. I'll believe that when I see it.
I'll hang here for a while and see who shows up while we wait (I assume) for our moderator to lock up the old digs. CUL, J.R.
Good sunny morning. The high will be about 75 degrees!!!! Also the grass is getting high, but I don't wanna be the first one to cut this year. You always get the neighbor or two looking out the window, like you are crazy!!!
Well I'm off to work in a hour. Good ole' nine hour shift. UGH!!! So............No MRR for me, and the same tomorrow.
Plus I see we haven't had the new diner open a day yet, and pie all over the place.
Ulrich..........That is a nice looking loco. What you have should work fine. Just be careful thou. I would make sure each layer is real dry before the next one. Here's a picture of a engine I did a year or so ago. I hope it helps.
"Rust, whats not to love?"

David to the diner. The pie launchers are back by the looks of things----
Good Morning
We are going up to 22C in the shade today---lotsa sun and a few clouds. Bring out the sunscreen! They're giving us the UV ratiings now too.
Finished off the second loader/unloader for the Exceda Co-op and now I've got to find the little N scale thingees to finish off another set of conveyors---
Flo, I'll have a coffee and a breakfast bagel please----I'll be at the RC for a bit
