Good Morning,

I got up in the middle of the night - just as every night, but in time to move the Diner into its new location. A pleasant site, I must say, right in the middle of a busy yard, with lots of action to watch. Now, Barry, Sam and Tom - I don´t mean this pie flinging contest which seems to have been re-started the last days. Thought, this was a peaceful and neat place, but

Kerrshplitz ...

thank you, I did not order this walnut cream pie!

Zoe, may I have a towel, please, and my usual cafe au lait and 2 croissants, with butter and strawberry jam, thank you.

Belen - a hearty [#welcome]! You have found the right place - lotsa nice people in here (if it weren´t for the strange habit of flinging pies). It is a place to socialize and share views and thoughts - not always MRR related. Think of it as a corner booth in your model railroad club, where you meet your buddies. Of course, we are a curious bunch, so please tell us a little bit about yourself and your MRR activities (John, I did it - I took this one of you...)

Robby P. - I need some hints on the weathering job for my loco. I don´t want to give it a heavily weathered and rusted look, as this is most unlikely in Europe. even BR did clean their equipment, now and then. The look I want to achieve is that of a used, but maintained loco. I want to lightly spray the roof with a streak of dull black to simulate the soot and grime from the exhaust. The chassis and the trucks I just want to "tone down" with a light spray of a brownish gray to simulate dust and grime - that´s all. I want to use enamels, which I still have, heavily diluted. Would that work and achieve the results I want to have? Wish I could do that together with you!

The weather has turned into what we call the typical Hamburg "Schmuddelwetter", dull and overcast, with the odd spell of ra*n (Belen, we never spell out the words ra*n, sn*w and w*rk!) - just in time for the Easter holidays. Gas prices hiked up to $ 8 a gallon - miraculously, all oil companies did the increase in the same day. No, they did not agree on an illegal price-fixing... [:-^]

The track plan and the scenery for my layout are pretty much fixed now. Some areas needed a rework, due to clearance issues and construction of the sub roadbed. I am now searching for materials I will need, such as BR outline signals, backdrop with city scenes, just odds and ends like this. I also need to talk to my friend and set up a date with him to assemble the benchwork - he has all the necessary tools. It´s about time - I can hardly wait for the loco to have her maiden run!

Have a rewarding day!
