I live in NW Ohio near the CSX Chicago line. Don't get to Michigan much but Toledo Ohio's CSX yard and NS yard are nice to see. There is a trackside guide for Detroit in TRAINS magazine so look for it.

Guys, do yourself a favor, don't bother with the Detroit area for train action, if u want to stay alive. There is a lot of bad neighborhoods. The only good thing to do in order to catch a good train is the northern suburbs, especially the CN going towards Port Huron. Delray is nice for action, but not the area for watching. My piece of advice to anyone attemptin to watch trains in Detroit, drive by photo shoots is the only good thing to do. There are other areas that u can watch trains, such as Durand, or Lapeer. Good luck to anyone thinkin of going into the Detroit area, try staying alive.
