moving of 4014 live stream

I see all the comments about the move but don't see when live stream is supposed to happen or when it happened

The engine had been sitting in a park for fifty years. It is a wonder the wheels even turned. It isnot being moved under its own power and will need to be torn down completely to determine the scope of the rebuild. Assuming it is possible it will take probably two years and millions of dollars once It reachs Cheyene. Don't hold your breath expecting it to run under its own power any time soon. There are a lot of things that have to go right be fore it will happen. There is a chance UP won't be able to pull it off if too far gone.

 For the naysayers:

4014 was relocated within the Fairplex 25 or so years ago, no issues with the Timken bearings and rotating assemblies then, or today , during the same period, volunteers cleaned the interior of the smokebox and firebox, removing copious amount of cinders and ash and performing asbestos abatement. 

 4014 was untimely selected due to its low mileage, overall condition and  completeness (no cut rods-flood damage, abject neglect or missing major appliances) , it was among the last of the 4000's to be shopped and saw limited use prior to being stored serviceable in the Green River roundhouse until retirement in 1962 and subsquent donation to an organization blessed with an ideal year round climate and caring-skilled custodians. Despite the need for a complete teardown, evaluation and rebuild and significient engineering-logistical challenges, I have no doubt that UP made the right selection and will sucessfully restore it to operation.

An AP article in the 1/27/14 Wall Street Journal has a picture and a statement that it will take several years to be operational. If they find anything major replacement parts would have to be made. Does UP want to rebuild it? Yes. Is it the best preserved? Yes. Is it going to be a slam dunk to do? Absolutely not. It is going to be expensive and time consuming interspersed with keeping the other two engines running. Three to four years would not be an unreasonable estimate subject to economic reality.

The goal is having 4014 operational by the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad's Golden Spike in 2019.
